Purpose & Benefits

Motivates young people to memorize scripture and apply its principals to daily living
Cultivates a love for God and His words
Builds relationships with fellow believers
Promotes positive character qualities such as diligence, perseverance, and faithfulness
Develops life skills such as communication, time management, and setting and attaining goals
Provides a positive, enriching experience in a safe environment

Program

The program is open to youth ages 9-19, and is structured to accommodate varying levels of interest and commitment. There is no pressure to compete at an advanced level or travel to tournaments, although these options are available to those who desire them (National Tournament quizzers must be between 11 and 19 years old).

Quiz Camp

In August of every year, we hold a weekend Quiz Camp. This is a great orientation for new quizzers and adults interested in helping, as well as a fun kick-off for the entire group. Quiz Camp is optional, but is strongly recommended for new quizzers. It's also a great opportunity for parents to see first-hand what Bible Quizzing is all about.

Leagues and Teams

Quizzers are divided into three leagues (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced), based on their experience and aptitude. Within each league, several teams are formed to allow quizzers of similar ability to compete with each other. Quizzers in the Intermediate and Beginner leagues may move up to the next league if they demonstrate exceptional commitment and ability.

Quiz Seasons

During the Fall Season, which runs from August through January, we quiz locally one Monday evening and Saturday afternoon each month. The Nationals Season begins in mid-January, when qualifying quizzers are placed on teams that will travel to two tournaments (Iowa Regionals and BQF Nationals) in February and April. During this season, local quizzing continues, and the time commitment increases, with more frequent quizzes and team meetings. In May, we celebrate the year of quizzing with an awards banquet for all quizzers and their families.
